100 years of Artistic Legacy…

Vasanthalakshmi Narasimhachari

Author & Founder of RASOHAM PUBLIC CHARITABLE TRUST

The Narasimhacharis, as a family with a rich legacy, have travelled the world as Cultural Ambassadors showcasing the richness and glory of India in each of their performances, and through art education programmes. Together they have worked to build a life dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in fine arts.

Narasimhachari and Vasanthalakshmi are well-known and highly respected performers, teachers, and choreographers of the Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi styles of Indian classical dance. Acclaimed by the Press as ‘Made for Each Other Couple”, they are teachers and performers of both Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam. The Narasimhacharis established Kalasamarpana Foundation (KSF), an academy for the propagation and promotion of the fine arts, in the year 1969. The Kalasamarpana Foundation celebrated its Golden Jubilee in the year 2019. To those that loved and revered Guru Narasimhachari (1942 – 2015), he lives on in every piece of exquisite art that he has created. This extraordinary artistic lineage, tracing back to his father and Guru Satyanarayana Chari, continues to flourish through the teaching and guidance of Guru Vasanthalakshmi.

The Narasimhacharis have the unique distinction of having received appreciation and awards from five Presidents of the country. Some of the prestigious awards received by the Narasimhacharis for both Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi are Sangeet Natak Akademi Award by the President of India for their unmatched knowledge and contributions to the field of Kuchipudi, Kalaimamani by the Government of Tamilnadu for their contributions to the field of Bharatanatyam, along with the Nrithya Choodamani by the Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, Chennai, and Lifetime Achievement Award by Natyarangam- Narada Gana Sabha, Chennai.
