Bhakti Yogam

A thematic dance production in Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi & Bhagavata Mela styles of Indian dance based on the concept of Nava Vidha Bhakti, the nine modes of devotion. Composed & Choreographed by The Narasimhacharis.

  • Commissioned 9 exceptionally talented male performing artists and choreographers from South India for artistic collaborations.
  • The lyrics for this work are sourced from inspiring texts such as Srimad Bhagavatham, Tulsi Das Ramayan, Vairagya Shathaka by poet philosopher Bhartrhari, poet Saint Thyagaraja, Subramania Bharathi, Yogi Suddhananda Bharathi, Bengali poet Ramprasad, Kavi Aravindan, and Purandara Dasa.
  • The music incorporates 7 different languages (Samskritam, Tamizh, Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu, Bengali).
  • A documentary film was produced as part of the series, featuring interviews and discussions that shed light on the struggles and challenges faced by male dancers in the performing arts scene.
  • An interactive exhibition showcasing selected works of Indian Mouth & Foot Painting Artists (IMFPA) was held to raise awareness and support the financial needs of disabled artists. IMFPA is a platform where artists with disabilities who cannot use their hands paint using brushes held in their mouth or feet.
